Gift Ideas for Travelers

Thinking about buying a gift for a loved one who is an avid traveler (maybe yourself)? I’m always on the look out for items that can make traveling safer and more convenient. Below are some of the things that I feel every traveler should invest in along with some recommendations (links included).

  • Packing cubes – extremely helpful when it comes to saving space in your suitcase. Also helps you keep things organized and makes it easier to pack and unpack! These come in different sizes so you can use them based on need (one for underwear, one for jeans, one for dresses, etc). The ones I purchased on Amazon even include a laundry bag for you to throw in your dirty clothes so you don’t mix them up with clean clothes.

  • Rfid blocking wallet – this is useful in protecting yourself against identify theft and credit card fraud.

  • International Adapter – it’s best to buy an international travel adapter instead of buying different ones for Europe, Asia, etc. if you plan on traveling to multiple continents. This way you can spend less money overall and don’t have to figure out which adapter to take every time you go on a trip.

  • Travel pillow – this is an essential item if you’re someone who prefers to sleep on the plane but are not able to get comfortable. Investing in a good travel pillow can make a huge difference in your mood once you land at your final destination!

  • Journal/Travel Diary – this is not a completely necessary item but for those of us who write travel blogs and like to keep an account of every day, this is a great addition to our travel bundles. It’s also nice to be able to go back and “re-live” your past trips!

Booking flights through Opodo – good or bad idea?

  1. Hi,
I recently came back from a trip to the Caribbean and I wish I had all of the things you mentioned in this article. Being in a cramped space of the plane requires all the comforts you can get and having a travel pillow is a must. There was a time when the planes provided little creature comforts like pillows and blankets but now that its all gone, we should take our own. I also like the idea of the packing cube. I had never heard of this before and I wish I did because it would definitely make packing everything easier, especially when travelling with kids.

Agreed! The packing cubes give you more space so you have to carry around less luggage. Definitely helps when you have kids to look after too. I’m not someone who can sleep on a plane but the travel pillow at least helps me get comfortable so it’s still a must have 🙂 Thank you for your comment!

  2. This is very helpful for me as I love to travel but for some reason I always have extra luggage and I am a horrible packer lol great information

    • Manpreet

Lol, I’m the same way! I always pack extra things that I don’t really end up using. Things that I MIGHT need haha. Those packing cubes come in very handy so you can squeeze in stuff in that extra space 🙂

  3. Some great ideas that I had never thought of. I spend a lot of time riding my Harley to various destinations and space obviously is always at a premium. The idea of using packing cubes would really help out.

    Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I wish I discovered packing cubes sooner. They are a great investment. Thank you for your comment!
